Lemurs vs. Monkeys: A Battle Royale

Post by Honeymuffin on 2012-01-21, 03:47

Lemurs; small, snowy-haired apelike things that are unrealistically cute.

Monkeys; above, except with brown fur, less-freaky eyes, and the ability to throw faeces.

WHO

WILL

WIN?

This extremely important issue was brought up in the dev IRC recently, and it is absolutely imperative that this mammalian rivalry is decided. Don't ask why.

Look at how bitching these lemurs are.
They're all like, "I'm jumping the hell around, I ain't care 'bout you."
Lemurs, bro.

That lemur video is just too awesome. I worry that it will single-handedly sway everyone to the lemur side of the force.

...But perhaps THIS will change the mind of you who is seated on the fence:

Lemurs are like the annoying, low class, little brother to monkeys. Lemurs are the microwavable fish sticks to the monkey's fire roasted salmon fillet. (I just went out to eat, can't you tell Razz )

Monkeys are common working class food, like McDonald's. Lemurs are for those with a sophisticated palate.

Or those posers wanting to pretend they enjoy sophistication. It takes a REALLY sophisticated person to admit that the times have moved on since lemurs achieved anything of note.

Nah brah, nah. Monkeys are the apex of fine dining. They are the fine French cuisine, the 5-star restaurants, and gold-plated caviar. Lemurs, on the other hand, are the hobo's can of beans, the porridge served in 19th century orphanages, and the meat that Taco Bell rejects.

Monkeys look better in natural hot springs. I don't think lemurs ever bathe in natural hot springs. Hence, monkeys are better.

If I wanted something similar to watching humans in a bath, I would watch humans in a bath.

Also, we're pretty relaxed about swearing, so no need for censoring unless you really want to.

Re: Lemurs vs. Monkeys: A Battle Royale

Post by Waytfm on 2012-01-28, 16:38

From Wikipedia
The name derives from the Latin term lemures, which refers to specters or ghosts that were exorcised during the Lemuria festival. Linnaeus was familiar with the nocturnal habits and ghost-like appearance of lemurs and lorises, as well as their noiseless movements at night, reflective eyes, and ghostly cries. He may also have known that the some Malagasy people have held legends that lemurs are the souls of their ancestors. Being familiar with the works of Virgil and Ovid and seeing an analogy that fit with his naming scheme, Linnaeus adapted the term "lemur" for these nocturnal primates.

Is it too late to change my vote?

I think I have to go with lemurs on this one. I have a slight tendency towards the unconventional. Based on that rather superficial factor, goodbye millions of lives, hello thousands of years of bloody, primate-related conflict.

As you see, I just LOVE to wreak havoc and destroy balance.
Enjoy your war, gentlemen.
